The present project proposal provides for the closure and reclamation of two municipal landfills for non-hazardous waste located at the Raikov Khammer area near the village of Zvezdets and the village of Gramatikovo near the village of Gramatikovo in the municipality of Malko Tarnovo. The landfill for non-hazardous waste in the area “Raykov Khammerar” near the village of Zvezdets was established in 1988 with a design capacity of 30.000 m³. By Order No RD-50/03.04.2015 of the Director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIOSV) Burgas, the operation of the landfill was suspended, on the grounds that it did not comply with the regulatory requirements for such facilities. The landfill of non-hazardous waste in the area “Valkovo Kashte” near the village of Gramatikovo was established in 1988 with a design capacity of 30.000 m³. By Order No RD — 51/03.04.2015 of the Director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIOSV) Burgas, the operation of the landfill was suspended, on the grounds that it did not meet the regulatory requirements for such facilities. The project will close both municipal landfills for municipal waste by carrying out technical recultivation of contaminated sites, certified by a protocol from the PHIPZ Committee for determining the size and boundaries of the site for recultivation and geodetic surveying. After the completion of the technical recultivation, biological reclamation with funds of the municipality will be carried out.
