Together with the Ministry of Interior Act, the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Protection of the Population (GDPBZN) is part of the structure of the Ministry of Interior and as such is responsible for ensuring fire safety and protection against fires, disasters and emergencies. 28 Regional Directorates for Fire Safety and Protection of the Population (RDBZN) have been established for the implementation of these activities, including the Sofia Directorate. The regional directorates, depending on the territory of the districts, include a different number of district offices (RSBZN) and sections (SPBZN). The project proposal is aimed at training some of the drivers of fire and rescue vehicles from the SDPBZN and RBZN to work in a difficult operational environment. Their work has been identified as key and extremely responsible for carrying out the tasks of the regional directorates. They are responsible for the maintenance of the specialised equipment in constant preparedness for response, after receiving an accident alert — for the safe movement of the team to the site, assisting the team’s actions on site. A key element of this work is the movement of the specialised equipment and the team to the place of action. The trucks used are three types — lightweight, medium and heavy class, with extinguishing agents and emergency and rescue equipment. During the movement of the technique, it falls into situations that are not part of the daily driving of the cars — restricted spaces, truncated/flooded/calculated terrain, water, ice, climbing, descent, etc.
