In order to address the problems of the municipalities of Tauragė region (low investment attractiveness and the associated lack of well-paid jobs, an undeveloped public transport system, the lack of services that meet the needs of the elderly, the accessibility of services for children with specific needs, the lack of infrastructure for clean vehicles) and to contribute to the growth of quality of life and to encourage the attraction of investment in Tauragė region, a strategy for the development of the functional area Tauragė+ has been developed. The project will implement the 17 actions of the functional zone Tauragė+ development strategy: the investment attractiveness of the municipalities in the functional area will be improved: built and modernised infrastructure of industrial areas in Jurbarkas, Pagėgiai, Šilalė and Tauragė cities, equipped with a connection of Tauragė industrial district to the A12 highway; an integrated regional public transport system and an electronic ticket system will be developed, the bus stations of Jurbarkas and Pagėgiai were reconstructed, 5 electric buses were purchased in Jurbarkas and Šilalė; and the availability of services for older people will be improved, by adapting unused premises to Pagėgiai municipality’s maintenance and care hospital and in Bijotai by equipping elderly care homes; children with special needs, creating the necessary infrastructure for Jurbarkas kindergarten-school “Ąžuoliukas”; by creating charging infrastructure for e-cars and e-buses in Tauragė, Jurbarkas and Pagėgiai. It is hoped that the implementation of these actions will not only create jobs of higher added value, but will also enable residents of the functional area to choose and/or change jobs, thus creating conditions for faster than average wage growth in the country. It will create a sustainable mobility system for the region, enabling access to jobs and services, and improve access to services for people with specific needs.
