The project aims to implement part of the measures to improve the status of the country’s water bodies approved in the Action Plan for the implementation of the Water Sector Development Programme 2017-2023. The main activities of the project are aimed at updating the system of modelling water status for water pollution assessment and forecasting the effectiveness of measures to improve the status of water bodies, carrying out studies on the status of five water bodies and identifying sources of pollution, and drawing up proposals to improve the status of water bodies, as well as to develop recommendations for reducing phosphorus release from bottom sediments in order to eliminate the significant negative impact of past pollution on lakes with an area of less than 50 ha that do not meet the criteria of good ecological status.
