The project aims to improve the quality and ensure continuity of public service in the field of environmental protection of Baltic Sea, Curonian Lagoon, lakes, rivers. The studies are directly linked to the implementation of the long-term public environmental monitoring programme (hereinafter referred to as “SPMP”). The project will contribute to the conservation and improvement of the state of the environment. Lithuania implements EU directives (General Water Policy Directive 2000/60/EC, Marine Strategy Framework Directive 2008/56/EC, Directive 2013/39/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, etc.) which aim to achieve good environmental status. The implementation of the Directives goes hand in hand with the collection of data on the environment, as it helps to formulate environmental objectives, plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental measures. Thanks to the project, the purchased equipment will ensure proper organisation of state laboratory control, will ensure the quality of investigations in case of emergencies, complaints and emergency pollution.
