The State Enterprise Lithuanian Airports has been operating since 30 September 1991, the founder of the company is the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania. The proposed project aims to modernise the noise monitoring system (TMS) at Vilnius Airport. This system measures the noise level of aeroplanes and compiles noise maps. This is a necessary premise for noise prevention. The current TMS has been unchanged since 2006. Failure to modernise the system would pose a risk of non-compliance with the noise measurement standards set by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). It is expected that the modernisation of TMS will allow for the assessment of the areas and extent of noise impact of the departure routes described in the AIP and their extent to change as far as possible. Public access to flight monitoring and their noise in real time will reduce the number of noise complaints. On the basis of TMS data, noise maps and a noise assessment report will be produced annually, which also assesses the results and effectiveness of the noise abatement action plan. Cooperation with State Enterprise Air Navigation will aim to ensure that at least 95 % of all departing aircraft comply with the standard departure routes and schemes described in the AIP at Vilnius Airport — the updated TMS will allow monitoring and recording of violations. The project will improve the quality of TMS. The implemented project will have a positive impact on reducing the environmental impact of noise.
