The aim of the project is to provide opportunities for residents of Šilalė district municipality Kaltinenai and Traksėdis to receive quality water supply and wastewater management services. The challenge is to improve the quality of drinking water and wastewater treatment by improving the availability of water supply and wastewater management services and the efficiency of the system in Kaltinenai mstl. and Traksėdis. The project envisages the reconstruction of the existing Kaltinenai wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) (90 m³/d) and the construction of new water improvers (LRU) (31.8 m³/d, 6 m³/h) in Traksėdis. The reconstruction of the existing NIS Kaltinenai mstl will increase the availability of centralised wastewater management services for the residents of Kaltinenai, who are centrally connected to the sewage networks, will protect the environment from the effects of the discharged waste water, and after construction of the LRU in Traksėdys, residents will receive high-quality drinking water complying with hygiene norms. The reconstruction of the existing NIS Kaltinenai town will improve the quality of the services provided to 145 people (58 dwellings). The construction of water improvers in Traksėdi will improve the quality of the services provided by 221 inhabitants (88 dwellings). According to data of the Statistics Department of the Republic of Lithuania in 2017 Šilalė sav. 1 dwelling has 2.5 inhabitants.
