After reconstruction of the section of the TEN-T road E67 (VIA BALTICA) Kaunas-Marijampolė road A5 Kaunas-Marijampolė-Suwała from 45.15 km to 56.83 km, safe traffic conditions will be ensured in line with traffic flow rates, requirements for road category AM and established international standards. The implementation of the project will improve the TEN-T road infrastructure in the territory of Lithuania and will have the following long-term effects: facilitate transit and local traffic; improved road safety conditions; the number of accidents will be reduced; travel time will be reduced. During the reconstruction of the road E67 (A5) Kaunas-Marijampolė-Suvalkai 45,15-56.83 km, the 11.68 km section is reconstructed in accordance with the requirements of the technical category AM with the separation lane and connecting roads adjacent to the A5 road. The intersection is 48.34 km and connecting roads, junctions of different levels with connecting roads 52.23 km (Sasnava) and 56.55 km (half-pants), two rings, on interconnected roads — slopes to gardens and fields. Estakad is being built at the crossroads of different levels 56.55 km and 6 viaducts (at the intersection of 48.34 km, at the junction of Sasnava 52.23 km, through the railway 54.06 km, for the connecting road 54.12 km and the tunnel viaducts — 53.87 km and 54.33 km). Introduction of environmental measures (noise suppression barriers, afforestation, fences and animal barriers, passage for amphibians); reconstruction of engineering networks (reconstruction of electricity, air, communication lines and service networks, lighting of intersections of different levels; rainwater discharge networks and surface wastewater treatment plants; redesigned reclamation systems near the road).
