Complex arrangement of Kauko stairs near Aukštaičiai street area

In Kaunas city municipality, there are not enough attractive spaces for residents and guests to use modern and attractive leisure and recreational infrastructure. This reduces the attractiveness of the urban living environment and does not meet the needs and expectations of city residents and guests. One of such public spaces is the Kauko staircase near Aukštaičiai street, which was once an attractive gathering place for townspeople, but currently there is not a large number of visitors or residents of the city due to the deteriorated infrastructure that no longer meets people’s needs. During the implementation of the project, the lighting systems will be modernised, the extension of the footpath, video surveillance system, refurbishing plantations in poor condition will be upgraded, the main Kauko stairway and stair steps will be renovated, newly installed and upgraded elements of small architecture, places suitable for children’s games and gatherings of residents. The project is important for all residents of the city: both young people, children and the elderly. The project is expected to enable young people to meet the needs of communication and socialisation. For older people, the city’s public infrastructure will become an excellent place for leisure, meeting and diversification of everyday life. The renewed territory will contribute to the growth of visitor flows, the creation of an attractive business environment and investment environment.
