In order to create a balanced and stable regional economy and thus contribute to the balanced development of Tauragė region and regional economy, a project is initiated. The correct use of various instruments can create a favorable image of the district and improve the investment environment, ensure the protection of the natural environment. The aim of the project is to clean up the asphalt-concrete base area where oil products were stored from past pollution: gasoline, diesel fuels, lubricants, bitumen, etc. (contained in concrete earthed tanks and above-ground metal tanks). The ground equipment is currently being dismantled. The former underground concrete tanks were flooded by land. Investigations have shown that soil and groundwater in the area of the former asphalt concrete base are contaminated with oil products. It is planned to use an ex-situ method for the treatment of soil contaminated with petroleum products, i.e. to excite contaminated soil and to take it to special cleaning sites. When underground pipelines are opened at excavation sites, petroleum products will be pumped out of the pipelines, and the pipelines will be dismounted.
