At present, the situation in Jonava is not in line with the provisions of the Regulation on surface waste water management, since urban surface (rain) waste water (in excess of 10 hectares in pools) is discharged into surface water bodies without treatment with dischargers (pursuant to the Regulation, surface (rain) waste water treatment plants must be treated. Some of the individual rain collection networks were installed more than 30 years ago. Due to mechanical pipeline damage (pipe breakage, cracks, bad joints, corrosion), pipelines become clogged, groundwater and sewage filtration and exfiltration take place. Networks are in poor condition and are not functioning, so their reconstruction is necessary. During the implementation of the project, it is planned to: —connect swimming pools Nos.5, 6 and 9 (with new grids) and build one new rainwater treatment plant; —connect swimming pools Nos 1, 2 and 12 (by laying new networks) and install rainwater treatment plants for swimming pools Nos 1, 2 and 12; — install rainwater treatment plant for swimming pool No 8; —reconstruct rainwater networks at Chemikos g., A. Kulvieo str. and Vasario 16-osios g. (basin No. 4) -connected No. 3 and 4 (by laying new networks); the project will address the problem of reducing the risk of flooding and environmental pollution due to the lack or inadequacy of surface wastewater infrastructure in Jonava. The implementation of the project will allow the installation and reconstruction of surface wastewater management infrastructure in a 292.12 ha rainfall area in Jonava, from which surface water is collected. The area has been calculated on the basis of data from Table 1 on page 7 of the project proposals “Maximum flow rates and permeability of superficial sewage basins in the last section — discharger” of the project proposals for Jonava urban surface (rain) wastewater systems.
