Development of new water supply and sewage networks in Paobel

The aim of the project is to increase the availability of centrally supplied drinking water and wastewater management services in Kėdainiai district. Currently, there are 52123 inhabitants of Kėdainiai district, of which only 74.93 % live in public drinking water services, and only 65.09 % live. As a large part of the population does not have access to public drinking water supply and wastewater management systems, water that does not comply with the hygiene norms is consumed, and proper management of the waste water generated is not ensured. According to the Law on Drinking Water Supply and Waste Water Management and Development Strategy for Drinking Water Supply and Waste Water Management 2008-2015 — the availability of these services must reach 95 % of the total population of the Republic of Lithuania by 2015. The project will provide 1.971 km of water supply and 3.33 km of sewage networks, with an opportunity of 227 inhabitants. Connect to the wastewater management system in Kėdainiai district (Paobelis). In accordance with the Law on Local Self-Government of the Republic of Lithuania (Official Gazette 1994, No 55-1049; 2000, No 91-2832) and the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on the Supply of Drinking Water and Waste Water Management, the functions assigned to municipalities and urban water management companies for the provision of drinking water and the organisation of waste water management services. The extension of centralised water supply and wastewater management networks would best ensure the performance of the municipal functions (obligations) to provide the population with quality drinking water and to ensure the management of waste water in accordance with the requirements. From an environmental, economic and legal point of view, centralised water supply and wastewater management are the best way to solve the problems of residents, thus improving their living conditions, contributing to the implementation of the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania. JSC Kėdainiai vandenys is carrying out this project, as water supply and wastewater management services have been transferred by Kėdainiai District Municipality.
