e-professionals in the working life of the future — North Karelia’s DIGISOTE project

Society, social and health care is undergoing a major technological and digital revolution since the industrialisation of history. With the rapid development of digitalisation, citizens will have access to a large number of official national and regional eHealth services, but also to a larger number of freely available services (e- and mobile services, applications, robotics, sensors, smart clothing, etc.). In order to promote the digital transformation of social and health care, national and regional development work is under way, with the emphasis on developing these services, developing the skills of e-professionals, including digital skills. The development of digitalisation and digital services, i.e. digital work, will change the work of social and healthcare professionals and the necessary skills, the work will expand and change. Residents accustomed to e-services expect more opportunities for e-services (customers’ feedback during the settlement phase of Siun Sote). The aim of the project is: 1) to provide new information on the digital futures of social and health care and to identify the future e-professional and the skills needed for it; 2) to develop digitalisation to the service paths of public social and health care, private social and healthcare services and third sector interfaces as a customer-oriented network of service providers, 3) to develop the digital skills of social and health professionals, companies and citizens, taking into account changing skills needs and special skills, 4) to develop the e-professional competence development path and related Coaching packages, 5) to develop multifunctional and business cooperation that promotes digitalisation, 6) to integrate the project development work into education in the field of healthcare and to utilise it in the future of organisations. In order to achieve the objectives, the project will implement three different, interlinked actions: 1) Future workshops will identify and visualise new digital futures and opportunities, as well as the work of e-professionals in the future and the necessary skills. Future workshops will specify which service paths the project will start to develop and digitise 2) in the development of an e-professional, modelling the development path of e-professional competence and producing related coaching packages and materials. The project implements learning workshops and develops effective methods and materials for the development of digital competence for the needs of working life and in the field of education3) The topics of rapid digital experiments arise from future workshops and the experiments also serve as a platform for e-professional competence development. Fast and agile experiments will introduce new digital tools for cross-sector service chains and close cooperation with experiment-related companies and the third sector. The result of the project will be digital services and service innovations, a multi-functional network to promote multi-sector digitalisation in the health and social services sector, stronger collaboration between the health and social services industry and technology companies, a group of e-professionals and wider digital skills of social and healthcare workers, new coaching packages and materials, new innovations related to competence development and digital services, and the development path of e-professionals to the regional and wider national needs. In addition to the Karelia University of Applied Sciences, the project is implemented by the North Karelia municipal association for social and health services (Siun Sote) and the regional business companies, JOSEK Oy and PIKES Oy. The project will work in close cooperation with the Digi Sote project of Ylä-Savo and the parties and projects involved in promoting the digitalisation of national social and health care, as well as with international partners.
