Mikkeli by Mikkeli

Our Mikkeli project seeks solutions to promote the inclusion and well-being of the most vulnerable residents. There is a need for joint efforts across administrative borders, new partnerships and approaches and pooling of resources to improve services and low-threshold opportunities. A network-based approach is needed to reach a challenging target group and to work with them. The project offers diverse funding models for the implementation of residents’ activity, cooperation and new experiments. They want to take the action close to the people. Residents are involved in the conception and implementation of activities and complement existing welfare services. The aim of the project is to:- increase participation and create new operating models to participate- support for the achievement of the Mikkeli Urban Strategy 2018-2021 (We will work together on the beautiful Mikkeli Mikkeli Mikkeli) and well-being objectives- to strengthen the model of experimentation and network-like working methods- to improve the skills of associations to increase inclusion and to ensure the effectiveness of experiments- to activate new actors and to promote networking among the actors- to engage active civic activities as part of the service structure of the city and province- to promote equality among the residents, the promotion of inclusion of the most challenging young people and working-age people and the fight against poverty. The project will be implemented in accordance with the model developed in the “Flow of Wellbeing in Mikkeli” project (trial culture and networking). The main project will encourage new participatory experiments. With support transfer projects, the operating model will be extended to other key themes for the well-being, inclusion and ability to work of residents. Mikkeli is a boldly experimental network project. The project measures include:- the main project forms Meijä Mikkeli network’s support transfer projects- together with the associations, the activities of the associations are developed to increase the participation of the associations- tying the activities to the structures together with the City of Mikkeli, Essote, organisations and residents- active activities with organisations and authorities to reach the target group: the target group is particularly resourceless families, marginalised young people and men networks coordination and facilitation to increase cooperation and inclusion- new activities and events in the form of purchasing services and transfer projects- experimenting with participatory budgeting and crowdfunding in urban areas- implementing an inclusion portal in broad cooperation with regional actors- modelling the way the project works.- projects for the transfer of ideas from residents and organisations: as a result of the project:- Mikkeli is a more active, vibrant and communal city for all its residents-involvement and community participation is increased- organisations have extensive cooperation and are able to offer opportunities also to the most vulnerable to participate- organisations produce new larger events in the city and new permanent low-threshold activities together and separately- social responsibility and inclusion are understood as part of civic activities- families’ resources are better. With the project, the people have found ways to influence their own living environment and wellbeing. People at risk of exclusion have been involved as active actors in training or employment. The networks created and established in the project will continue to operate as part of a network of organisations, cities and provincial actors.
