Take it easy to work

The ‘Save to Work’ project improves opportunities for part-time workers and people with disabilities to find employment in the open labour market. The aim of the project is to create a new operating model for employment and to build a network of companies using this model, which will provide work for part-time and disabled jobseekers. The project utilises the Locus Netwerk model developed in the Netherlands. Locus Netwerk creates permanent jobs for people who are able to work by modifying tasks and networking different actors with each other. In the model of the project, partner companies identify tasks suitable for the target group, tailor new tasks and multiply these tasks within the company. The result is a number of jobs that can be used to employ customers in the target group. The project develops customer guidance from unemployment, rehabilitation and training to work. Businesses are provided with information and training on the employment of people with partial work capacity and people with disabilities. The employer and employee are offered support to start work. At the same time, an employment plan will be created for the company for the employment of partially capable people and people with disabilities and the necessary support. The project aims at multiplying the job created and disseminating the company’s various locations. In Finland, it is estimated that there are 65 000 people with partial working capacity who would like to work. Research has shown that the employability of people with partial work and people with disabilities does not improve even in an upturn, but new measures are needed to improve the labour market situation. A large proportion of people with disabilities do not have a job in the open labour market. Employers have researched interest in hiring part-time workers and people with disabilities, but they need more information on recruitment, skills and pay subsidies for the target group. In addition, employers need effective job placement and help to meet the task and the employee. The project’s activities are divided into three phases: piloting, expanding operations and consolidating operations. The project’s operating model will be piloted during 2019. The project will be expanded in the following year, when new partner companies and employment service providers will be invited to participate in the project. At the end of the project, the operating model is described, evaluated and consolidated as part of the business partners’ activities. In addition, the aim is to establish the Iisisti Works network. At the end of the project, companies will have an operating model for the employment of people with partial capacity and people with disabilities. The aim of the project is to employ an estimated 100 people during the project and to create new tasks totalling around 200. It is expected that the jobs created will be scaled up to the other locations of the companies by approx. 0.5 times.Iisisti to Work project is coordinated by the National Institute for Health and Welfare. The Rehabilitation Foundation acts as part of the project. The partners of the project are Lidl Suomi Ky, Lassila Tikanoja Oy, Leijona catering Oy, Sato Oy, Espoo Catering Oy and Locus Netwerk (Dutch) and the Special Vocational Education Institute Spesia.
