The innovation ecosystem of the carbon-wise bioeconomy is a bioeconomy research, development, innovation and education environment designed for Kuusamo. The innovation ecosystem will serve both companies in the Koillismaa region as well as research and training organisations in different regions, and act as an innovation platform for new bio-based products as well as solutions for construction, digitalisation and circular economy. The project is closely linked to a number of regional and regional climate, low-carbon, bio-economy and circular economy themes. The aim is to create an ecosystem capable of responding to different levels of challenges by combining the skills and resources of different actors. The implementation is divided into four work packages (Work Package 1 physical form of the innovation ecosystem, Work Package 2 Launching RDI activities, Work Package 3 Launching activities related to education, and Work Package 4 on the innovation ecosystem operating model), which focus on the different areas of the innovation ecosystem and create the conditions for the efficient use of both physical facilities and different organisations and competences. The project is carried out by the development company Naturpolis Oy from 1.6.2021 to 30.6.2023 and has a budget of EUR 582 280.
