Development of event production in Koillismaa

The aim of the project “Developing event production in Koillismaa” is to find options for developing the organisation of event production in the region, either on the basis of existing solutions and operators, or alternatively through new business models and operators. More organised and business-oriented events, based on shared vision and coordinated with other events in the region, can support tourism development, regional marketing, entrepreneurship and thereby increase employment more effectively. The aim of the project is to prepare a business feasibility study for the event production organisation based on the existing event offering. At the same time, consideration will be given to the way in which the organisation is implemented: whether an existing actor(s) is developing their operating model or whether a new organisation/company is needed for event production.Measures in the project:1. Mapping of the current event offering 2. As regards the main events, the identification of operating models and operational framework conditions 3. Identification of good practices and benchmarking 4. A business feasibility study for an event production organisation5. The result of the project is a plan for organising event production in Koillismaa, as well as calculations of the commercial profitability of the event production organisation and an explanation of possible operating models. On the basis of the plan, the future operating model of event production will be resolved and follow-up measures agreed with the operators. At the end of the project, on the basis of the results obtained (in the short term), an operator at least responsible for organising the most important events in the region, if it proves to be economically viable, will be established in the region. In the long term, the systematic organisation of events will help to clarify the region’s image and increased business turnover and the regional economic impact of the events. Well-functioning event arrangements increase the number of tourists in the region, prolong their stays and develop the year-round tourism. All of these will increase the utilisation rate of the existing tourism infrastructure and business opportunities for businesses and thus increase employment in the region.
