The Departmental Council is undertaking work on digital spatial planning in certain areas still underserved in broadband, thus enabling operators who so wish to provide better high- and very high-speed Internet access services in the areas concerned. Several network segments will be implemented: Fibre-optic collection of non-optical telephone exchanges (NRAs). This component provides for the deployment of fibre-optic links to connect 5 NRAs in the south of the island. The FttN service. This component provides for the connection of 7 sub-distributors eligible for the PRM tender. To this end, the project consists, for each sub-distributor (SR) concerned, to install a street cabinet to accommodate operators, in close proximity to the sub-distribution cabinets (SRs), and downstream of the subscriber connection nodes (NRAs); by shortening the copper length of the lines between subscribers and their active DSL equipment, the rate accessible by subscribers served by this sub-distribution area can thus be increased significantly and allow the development of VDSL2 services and services integrating “triple play” on a more significant part of Mayotte’s territory. The Departmental Council intends to make use of the possibility of setting up speed climb equipment as defined in the “Montée En Débit” (MED) solution in June 2011 by ARCEP.
