In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the traffic at Savenay station, particularly as a result of a strategic position at the heart of the Nantes-Saint-Nazaire metropolis’s living area, as well as an improvement in rail supply under the impetus of the Pays de la Loire Region. The station was visited by more than 400,000 customers in 2015. This traffic is expected to evolve in particular in connection with the future redevelopment of Nantes Atlantique airport, which will have an impact on the volume of intermodal trade. The Community of Estuary and Sillon Municipalities, in partnership with the Pays de la Loire Region, wanted SNCF Réseau and SNCF Gares et Connections to initiate a wide-ranging reflection on the creation of a multimodal exchange hub (MEP). This overall project for the development of the EMP at Savenay station comprises three areas set out in the legal documents as well as three contracting authorities: • The north perimeter comprising the passenger building and the platforms carried by SNCF Gares and Connections subject of this file, • The PMR accessibility of the platforms and the extension of the underground carried by SNCF Réseau (already programmed under the ERDF) • The southern perimeter: underground access to the docks, the square, the car parks and the boulevard des Acacias carried by the community of Estuary and Sillon communes (already programmed under the ERDF).
