modernisation and extension of Saint-Nazaire station

As part of its transport and travel policy, CARENE has decided to set up a multimodal hub to anticipate the increase in the pace of regional rail services in the coming years and, in general, an improvement in the performance of the urban bus network (STRAN) integrating the new structuring “heelYce” line of type BHNS, interurban (LILA) and regional. Thus, the site of the Saint Nazaire railway station is increasingly seen as the pivot of the passenger transport flow of the Azairian agglomeration and must constitute, in terms of mobility all modes, the downstream pole of the metropolis Nantes/Saint Nazaire. Article 2 of Addendum No 1 to the Memorandum of Understanding defines the project and the modernisation and accessibility of the Saint Nazaire railway station within the framework of the multimodal exchange hub. The project includes: —the extension of the access bridge to the wharves to the north; —access works to the Voyageurs docks; compliance with the accessibility of docks; —the renovation of the passenger building; — the finalisation of the fittings of a new car park; —the creation of a soft fashion lane along the rue Matisse and the layout of the car park; —the creation of a lane under the bridge of the Matte; the restructuring and upgrading of vertical links; —the redevelopment of the public space entrance East; —the replacement of the Willy Brandt Bridge.
