The GAZ2O project located in the Meuse will allow the production of renewable gas directly injected into the GrDF network. This facility is run by 2 young farmers aged 28 and 38, cousins, and all 2 farmers in the village of Bislée. Their aim is to maximise livestock manure from their respective holdings, namely poultry manure and cattle manure. These inputs will be supplemented by manure from 3 neighbouring herders and some intermediate crops between 2 food crops. In addition to renewable energy production, which is part of farmers’ objectives, this project is also an opportunity to diversify farm operations while providing income stability. The Methaneisation Unit will better manage the fertilising values of manure and manure and thus be able to gain autonomy on fertilisers. This will also significantly reduce the use of plant protection products through longer rotations. Finally, by linking this project to conservation agriculture we will increase our capacity to store carbon in our soils improving organic matter levels and biological activity.
