The construction project of AGORA Patrotte, initiated in 2011, is part of a global urban renewal policy of the La Patrotte — Metz Nord district: release and opening of an enclaved area, calming traffic, creating a neighbourhood centre, new public spaces and creating synergies between the different facilities. Among the various actions undertaken to revitalise the neighbourhood, the City of Metz has decided to build an innovative and structuring equipment that will be both Mediatheque-Digital Space and Social Centre. The media library will succeed a small neighbourhood library of the Metz Media Library network, being a pilot in the digital domains (tools, equipment, applications, mediations, etc.). The social centre will give the Interfederal and Solidarity Messine Association, a pre-existing social centre on the neighbourhood, the possibility of greater efficiency and a common infrastructure function in the various centers of Metz-nord (MJC Quatre terminals, Centre Lacour au Chemin de la Moselle, MiC Boileau Pré-Génie). The operation is linked to the priority “Life Framework and Urban Renewal” and is broadly in line with all the strategic axes of the Metz Métropole City Contract. It was pre-selected by Metz Métropole, the urban authority in charge of pre-selection of projects eligible for ERDF co-financing under 8.9.B.
