Since 2007, the municipality has embarked on an operation to rehabilitate and rebuild its city centre. This operation corresponds to a displayed will to: — solving the problems of public safety linked to urban wastelands, which are non-law spaces — create a high-quality city centre that enhances the natural attractiveness of the municipality. After the renovation of the new town hall and then the square of the old town hall, the city intends to continue its requalification policy through the renovation of the central island. As regards the central island, a diversified programme is planned: Operation 1: treatment of City Entrance Operation 2: Renovation of the food market and creation of parking Operation 3: Renovation of the central island Operation 4: Enhancement of Built Heritage Operation 5: upgrading of primary infrastructure The requalification and restructuring of the city centre of the city of Saint-Claude is felt by elected officials as a necessity. The town’s natural attractiveness, thanks to the quality of its environment and the organisation of its natural and urban spaces, makes it possible to envisage the creation of a very attractive city centre, in a framework of quality, as evidenced by the renovation of the new town hall and the place of the old town hall.
