ERDF — UNICAEN — CPER Channel 2021 v4

The CPER “Manche 2021” aims to federate and develop research directly or indirectly into the Channel Area and its coastline. The objective is to observe, characterise and model the foreseeable short-term developments in the Channel area, using an integrated, multidisciplinary approach ranging from Science, Biology, Health to Human and Social Sciences (e.g. evolution of physical environments and associated ecosystems, impact of global warming on environments and marine resources, environment and health). These research is organised around three actions: Integrated and Sustainable Coastal Management, Marine Resources and Aquaculture and Renewable Marine Energy. The context of Operation "Channel 2021 — Component 4, Marine Resource Quality, is in line with the timetable initially established and validated by the Region (CPER 2015-2020) and corresponds to the 2018 (unfunded) and 2019 programming. The purpose of this operation is to acquire the following equipment for the Centre de Recherche en Environnement Côtier (CREC) of the UNICAEN marine station:(1) A geophysical survey platform for the study of the sedimentary interface. This tray includes 2 equipment: a Multibeam Survey (MFS) to obtain a 2D image of sedimentary bottoms reflecting their nature and (micro)topography; a system for 3D acquisition and processing of very high resolution seismic data (THR) to obtain information on the nature and geometric layout of the layers of the first metres of the sedimentary column. (2) A primary production dynamic analysis tray comprising 2 equipment: a self-analyser of nutritious salts, which allows the measurement of nitrates, nitrites, phosphates and silicates in seawater, and finally to understand the long-term evolution of eutrophication in the Seine Bay; a FastOcean APD Profiler fluorimeter coupled with a submersible fluorimeter (Walz) which provides a non-intrusive and non-destructive method for the detection of photosynthesis by phytoplankton and macroalgae.(3) A Doppler Laser Velocometer (VDL) for very high resolution measurements of the turbulent wake of sea energy recovery machines.
