PET-CT: Imaging System Coupling Positons Emission Tomography and X Ray Tomography

The purpose of this operation is the purchase of a Positons Emission and X-ray Tomography (TEP-CT camera) that is suitable for non-human primates (PNH) and rodents. This operation is carried out by the preclinical imaging department of the Scientific and Technical Platform Analysis of Biological Systems (PST ASB) of the University of Tours. The department’s activities are currently focused on ultrasound and PET-CT imaging in rodents, including using a PET-CT camera acquired 10 years ago by the University. This new investment will (i) benefit from the latest technological advances for this type of imaging, and (ii) extend the department’s activities to HNPs to provide solutions that best suit local-regional needs, including the study of therapeutic antibodies and other biomedicines. PET imaging uses radiopharmaceuticals that target and reveal functions of interest. The radioactive radiation they emit is detected by a camera and the images obtained allow to visualise the anatomical distribution and to assess the amount of the target of interest in an atraumatic manner. Anatomical localisation is obtained by superimposing the image of the radioactive tracer with that of the X scanner. These technologies are widely used in clinical routine, particularly in cancerology for diagnosis and therapeutic follow-up (fluorodeoxyglucose). The Useful
