PSAT2- Imag’ISP

Who estimates that 13 million people worldwide will succumb to infections in 2050. An increase in the emergence of infectious agents and the risk of an epidemic or pandemic has been observed over the past 15 years, 60 % of which originated from the animal. This situation requires the development of innovative means of detection and therapeutic tools that can benefit from the discoveries of basic research. The requirement to reduce infectious risk to human health will also require rigorous control of animal infections that are often the cause of contamination. By 2050, the need to feed 9 billion new people is posed by infectious diseases internationally. Who, OIE and FAO proposed a One Health/One Health approach that takes into account the human-animal-environment interface. The French Government adopted this position in 2011 and research institutes such as INRA and INSERM also took a position on an integrated approach to the study of infectious diseases. The PSAT2-IMAGISP action aims to further develop the Animal Health Centre of Tours, a reference site for infectious diseases affecting human and animal health.
