PSAT: Towards a multi-species pathology building with dedicated lines

This project aims to further develop the Animal Health Hub of Tours, a reference site for the study of animal infectious diseases and one of the largest European collectives studying infectious diseases affecting human and animal health. The cluster consists of both a very large joint Inra-Université de Tours (Infectiology and Public Health, ISP) research unit (200 people) and the Experimental Infectiology Platform (PFIE), with 45 agents, which has specialised facilities partly unique in France and rare in Europe. He leads the Federation of Infectiology Research (Féri) which brings together 350 infectiologists and gives visibility to this discipline in the Region, France and internationally. The cluster thus conducts research to understand the interactions between the pathogen, be it bacteria, viruses or parasites, and its host. To this end, he develops and proposes animal models reproducing the diseases studied, including original models for laboratory animals, farm animals or wild animals (sanglar, badger) and responds to very specific demands such as the production of parasites on ruminants or poultry, studies on axenic chicks or infections of poultry as an isolator.
