Today, the Alençon station is an equipment that no longer seems suitable for current mobility purposes. It can no longer accommodate an increasing number of passengers, the connections between transport modes need to be improved and the whole better integrated into its environment. This hub of exchanges is called to function as a real place of life, junction between growing neighbourhoods (the Ilot Tabur and the Quartier de Courteille in particular) and an offer of urban transport in development. All the partners have decided to develop, modernise and redesign the multimodal exchange hub of the Alençon station. The development of the multimodal exchange hub of the Alençon railway station will be conceived as a place of articulation of different modes of transport and as an important parking area. The development of the site primarily meets defined needs; a calming of traffic in the station area, a parking offer consistent with the neighborhood and a capacity to fold down cycles from the access lanes to the station.
