The Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya promotes the use of bicycles as a sustainable mode of transport, both for everyday mobility as well as for leisure, sports and tourism._x000D_ _x000D_ For this reason, the Department promotes specific actions of cycling routes that give continuity and complete existing itineraries and also promote new ones that contribute to the creation of a territorial network of bicycle routes throughout the country._x000D_ _x000D_ The objective of this operation is the promotion of sustainable mobility, mainly everyday mobility, through the construction of new sections of inter-municipal roadways that allow the improvement of communications between the center of the population centers with the main Transport infrastructures, as in the case of railway stations. Also included is an action that gives continuity to an existing itinerary for pedestrians and cyclists between the Hospital de Bellvitge and El Prat de Llobregat and connects with the paths of the Llobregat Llobregat via the C-31 viaduct through the its extension._x000D_ _x000D_ Accordingly, the following actions are included in this operation:_x000D_ _x000D_ - Cycle route on the BV-5301 road of Santa Maria de Palautordera to the train station._x000D_ - Cyclist route on the GI-552 road from Breda to the train station of Riells and Viabrea-Breda._x000D_ - Extension of the viaduct to the C-31 on the river Llobregat._x000D_ _x000D_ The pedestrian and cyclist route to the BV-5301 in Santa Maria de Palautordera (Vallès Oriental) has the main objective of promoting daily mobility insofar as it will facilitate the connection with sustainable means between the railway station and the urban nucleus of the township In addition, this new route will also provide mobility and leisure services as it will facilitate access to the Montseny Natural Park._x000D_ _x000D_ The road for pedestrians and cyclists that will unite the nucleus of Breda with the railway station of Riells and Viabrea-Breda (La Selva), as in the case of the previous action, will create an itinerary that will allow to improve the security and comfort in the pedestrian and cyclist journeys and will promote in this way the daily mobility and the intermodality with the public transport. The route of the cycle path runs substantially parallel to the GI-552 road, it begins near the end of the urban center of Breda and arrives to the urban center of Viabrea._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ Currently, the viaduct of the C-31 on the Llobregat has two sidewalks of 1 meter wide and about 0.75 meters useful between the pedestrian outer railing and the rigid barrier of the boundary of the vale. In order to guarantee the proper passage of pedestrians and cyclists for this point, it is necessary, therefore, to extend the bridge section. The works consist of the extension of the bridge by the upstream side with a 2.22 meters light tower to reach a free width of 3 meters for pedestrian and bike paths. The project includes the connection with the existing ways to give continuity to the different itineraries that come together.
