The main objective of this project will be the development of two new molecular detection tests of multiple agents causing very relevant infectious diseases, with high prevalence and emergency; specifically a kit for the detection of emerging viruses responsible for tropical fevers and a kit to detect a very complete panel of bacteria causing pneumonia, also covering their antibiotic resistances. Two products will be oriented to differential diagnosis and confirmatory analysis in diagnostic centers using the same methodology of simultaneous detection of multiple pathogens by multiple PCR and reverse flow hybridisation based on automated DNA-FLOW technology (hybriSpot platforms). The detection is based on a colorimetric methodology, which provides the advantage of presenting competitive prices and not requiring highly sophisticated equipment._x000D_ _x000D_ Two new innovative diagnostic kits with superior characteristics than the products and technologies now available on the market will be developed. Both developments will be addressed together, since they are based on the same technology will allow sharing joint resources optimising the economic investment and technical effort, being also noteworthy the important integrative character that brings the fact that both tests share market, technology and analysis platform._x000D_ _x000D_ An additional objective that is intended to be addressed in this project is the optimisation of the parameters and conditions required to be able to present our products on the market in freeze-dried format. This point is crucial, apart from the savings in shipping costs, by providing stability to PCR reagents during transport and storage, especially since the niches targeted are located in geographical areas with low resources and very high average annual temperatures.
