The subject of the project is the modernisation of tram lines in the city of Košice with a total length of 7.9 km. The project directly follows the Košice regional integrated transport project and its objective is to improve and modernise the parameters of the railway infrastructure for tram transport in the city of Košice, thereby making public transport more attractive and increasing the number of passengers using public passenger transport (before individual).To achieve the objectives of the project, measures will be implemented in the framework of the modernisation of tram tracks, crossings, turning points and accompanying infrastructure. which will increase the safety and fluidity of tram traffic, increase the comfort of the travelling public and reduce collision situations or point deficiencies in several places, such as the addition of special-purpose light-signalling on the most risky road rail crossings, building modifications to existing stop islands, optimisation of the location of tram stops on some track sections, including the addition of new stops, modernisation of subway lines, converters and other cable lines. The implementation of the project will contribute to the fulfilment of the specific objective of OPII, which is to increase the attractiveness of public passenger transport through modernisation and reconstruction of infrastructure for ITS and urban rail transport.The users of the results of the project (target group) are residents of the city of Košice – passengers of public transport, residents of surrounding municipalities and cities commuting for work and visitors to the city. Implementation of the project will also affect residents of the city of Košice.The project is located in the Košice Self-Governing Region, the city of Košice: cadastral territories North Town, Central Town, Summer, Terrace, Huštáky, South Town, Warehouse/city districts Košice – Staré Mesto, Košice – North, Košice – South and Košice – West.
