D3 Žilina, Brodno – Kysucké Nové Mesto (project preparation D3)

One of the strategic objectives of the Slovak Republic in the process of European integration is to connect Slovakia’s transport links to the European transport network. The D3 motorway is in line with Slovakia’s development strategy, international treaties, the concept of territorial development of the Slovak Republic (KURS), as well as the concept of road and motorway network development. It is part of the D1 – D3 motorway in the route Bratislava – Trenčín – Žilina – Skalité with connection to Poland. The D3 motorway is disconnected from the D1 motorway in the area of Lower Hričov, which continues in the eastern direction to Košice. The D3 motorway is also part of the multimodal transport corridor No VI, the Trans-European Networks and the Trans-European Metropolitan Municipality in the north-south direction. This is a project preparation for the construction of the motorway in category D 24,5/80 in the section Žilina, Brodno -Kysucké Nové Mesto. The activities of this project focus on the project preparation of the section of the D3 motorway with the aim of removing key bottlenecks on the TEN-T road infrastructure through the preparation (construction) of new sections of motorways. The place of implementation of the project is Žilinský kraj, Žilina and Kysucké Nové Mesto. The D3 motorway is part of the TEN-T corridor, with an important national as well as international transport function.
