Expressway R2 Zacharovce – Batka, project documentation

One important goal of the Slovak Republic is to connect the transport network to the international European route E58 in the direction west-east. The R2 expressway in the Zacharovce-Bátka section was defined in the government approved ‘Strategic Transport Development Plan of the Slovak Republic until 2030 – Phase II’. The construction of the R2 expressway on the Zacharovce – Batka section, category R11,5/100 with a proposed length of 8323,86 m will contribute to an overall increase in road trajectory capacity in the west-exit direction. The project will also provide a higher transport function and create a more coherent network of motorways and expressways with a trans-regional dormant function. The activities of the project are focused on the preparation of motorways and expressways with the aim of removing key bottlenecks on the TEN-T road infrastructure through the preparation (construction) of new sections of motorways and expressways. The location of the project implementation is Banskobystrický kraj, okres Rimavská Sobota. The R2 expressway is part of the TEN-T Comprehensive network, with an important national and international transport function.
