CEMBAM – Medical Bioadditive Research and Production Centre

CEMBAM project focuses on research and development in advanced medical therapies. It aims to achieve, through a multidisciplinary consortium composed of research institutions of the state, public and private sectors, a contribution in the field of stem cell research with a focus on research and development of artefactal tissues using 3D bioprinting, which will be applied in vivo and enable the active regeneration of damaged tissue. The project consortium is composed of 8 partners who have been working in the field of biomedical and biochemistry research for a long time and achieve significant results in this field. Through the project, CEMBAM is a top-class centre, which focuses on attracting tips in tissue engineering and advanced technologies in the field of rheumatoid arthritis treatment. Within the consortium, a team of the applicant and 7 partners are formed. Independent R & D is carried out by 4 partners, industrial research 2 partners and experimental development by 3 partners. The outputs of the milestones of the activities overlap and the activities complement each other. Most of the activities are carried out on the eligible territory (Nitra, Piestany, Košice), 2 activities are carried out in the Bratislava region. The project will create opportunities for young scientists under 35 years, among them doctoral candidates (12 persons). International experience draws on the know-how of foreign experts in the field of tissue engineering (2 experts). The outputs of 10 activities will be presented in international forums, in 23 published articles, in 2 filed patent applications and 1 intellectual property application. At the end of the project, the jobs created by the applicant and partners (3.31 FTE) will be maintained. 1 partner established cooperation with Slovak foreign scientist, who will be involved in the project. In addition to R & D results, it is planning a 1 spin-off project, which will functionally link research on campus to the economic environment, as a space for young start-ups to be able to enter the market in biomedical innovation.
