The general objective of the project is to develop the transport infrastructure of Traian Vuia Timisoara International Airport by constructing a new departure terminal for external passenger flights, in order to ensure an extended air traffic, with maximum safety conditions and an adequate degree of security, in accordance with European and national regulations in the field of air transport. The general objective of the project contributes to increasing accessibility and regional mobility through investments in airport infrastructure as well as through an increased volume of passengers transiting the airport. The project provides for the construction of a passenger departure terminal for external flights, enabling the achievement and maintenance of a standard of quality of services offered to passengers (management of passenger and baggage flows) in accordance with the provisions and recommendations in this field formulated by the international regulations in force, thus ensuring compliance with: — Regulation (EC) No 139/2014; — Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on common rules in the field of civil aviation security and repealing Regulation (EC) No 2320/2002, as amended; — Council Regulation (EC) No 3922/91 as regards common technical requirements and administrative procedures applicable to commercial air transport, Subpart S; Commission Regulation (EC) No 272/2009 supplementing the common basic standards on civil aviation security laid down in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council, as amended; Commission Regulation (EU) No 1998/2015 laying down detailed measures for the implementation of the common basic standards on aviation security; — Commission Regulation (EU) No 18/2010 amending Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards specifications for national quality control programmes in the field of civil aviation security; — Commission Regulation (EU) No 72/2010 laying down procedures for the execution of Commission inspections in the field of aviation security. In terms of contribution to the achievement of LIOP result indicators, OS 2.3, the successful implementation of the project determines the achievement of the indicator ID 2S17 – Modernised Airports (number): 1 upgraded airport, i.e. indicator ID 2S13 – Passengers embarked and disembarked in airport transport (million passengers/year): 2.231.151 persons, in the context of a national target value 2023: 20 million passengers/year. Through this project will be financed both economic and non-economic activities. The economic activities are those related to the airport activity itself (check-in persons and luggage, waiting room, commercial area, boarding)
