The general objective of the project is to increase the sustainable use of “Delta Dunarii” Airport by ensuring the security of passengers and baggage in accordance with the requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) No139 laying down technical requirements and administrative procedures related to aerodromes pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Annex to ED Decision 2016/027/R Certification Specifications and Guidance Material for Aerodromes Design CS-ADR-DSN Issue 4 of 8 December 2017 in order to ensure passenger security, respectively Order No 129/2016 approving the Methodological Norms on Fire Safety and Civil Protection endorsement and authorisation. The project “Increasing passenger safety and security at Danube Delta Airport” Tulcea – Ensuring passenger security at Danube Delta Tulcea Airport has a particular relevance for the socio-economic development of the ITI area by contributing to the objectives of Pillar III – Improving connectivity related to the Integrated Sustainable Development Strategy of the Danube Delta. Also, taking into account the importance of an airport in socio-economic development, the positive effects can extend across the South-East Development Region. The investments under the project respond to the following eligible actions under OS 2.3: B. New investment projects in airport infrastructure targeting non-economic activities in the field of safety and security – Investments aimed at safety and security for air transport infrastructure in relation to the types of non-economic activities set out in Annex 10 of the Applicant’s Guide; By making these types of investments “Delta Danube” Tulcea Airport will comply with the latest requirements of the aviation regulations, thus providing superior security conditions in airport activities. Thus, the project “Increasing passenger safety and security at Danube Delta Airport” Tulcea – Ensuring passenger security at “Delta Danube” Tulcea Airport contributes to the following programme indicator for Specific Objective 2.3 Call for projects for the development of airport infrastructure – new investment projects targeting non-economic activities in the field of safety and security: • 2S17 Modernised Airports on the Danube Delta Airport Tulcea, the existing traffic so far has been largely operated, only for general aviation flights, flights with small-capacity aircraft or charter flights with small aircraft.
