During the second phase of the project for the rehabilitation of the moving infrastructure of Craiova Airport will be fulfilled the general objective set out in the financing application for the first phase financed from the Sectoral Operational Programme (2007-2013) and partially fulfilled by 31.12.2015, namely: development of a modern and sustainable airport infrastructure within Craiova Airport, in order to facilitate safe and efficient transportation of persons and goods at national and European level, contributing positively and significantly to the economic development of the South-West Oltenia Region and Romania. The general objective is operationalised with three specific objectives: — improving the safety of aircraft take-off-land manoeuvres, rehabilitation of the take-off-land runway, as well as by installing a modern beacon system, – increasing the operating capacity of Craiova Airport, by extending the boarding/disembarkation platform and the taxiway, – improving rainwater leakage from the movement surfaces, by rehabilitating the rain sewer system. The investments foreseen in this phased project correspond to Specific Objective 2.3 Increasing the sustainable use of airports, part of Priority Axis 2 Development of a multimodal, quality, sustainable and efficient transport system of LIOP 2014-2020, aimed at financing the implementation of measures to modernise airports, located both on and outside the TEN-T network, contributing to the objectives of increasing accessibility and regional mobility, through investments in airport infrastructure and in infrastructure that ensures their connection to the road and rail terrestrial network, in safe conditions and in accordance with the environmental protection objectives. Measures to rehabilitate the movement infrastructure of Craiova Airport will increase the operating capacity, efficiency and attractiveness for users (against airlines and passengers). Also, the project will ensure efficient connection to airports of community and international traffic. Thus, the project will contribute to the main result pursued by promoting the investments foreseen in OS 2.3, respectively the increased volume of passengers transited through airports. The project will contribute to the result indicator 2S13 Passengers boarded and disembarked in the airport transport based on the number of passengers transiting annually through the airports in Romania (disembarked/disembarked). From the Cost Benefit Analysis of the project, it follows that the modernisation of the airport infrastructure will lead to an estimated increase in the number of passengers boarded and disembarked, from 138.886 in 2014 to 174.320 in 2016. The estimated increase of 35,434 passengers is a contr
