Project phase extension and rehabilitation of water and wastewater infrastructure in Bacau county

The project aims at extending and rehabilitating drinking water systems, as well as the waste water collection system in order to comply with the water quality obligations set out in the Accession Treaty and with the objectives of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme. It will be implemented for agglomerations: Bacau, Moinesti, Buhusi, Darmanesti and Targu Ocna by the Regional Operator “S.C. Regional Water Company Bacau” (CCRAB S.A). As regards indicator 2S29 and 2S30, related to compliant SEAU serving agglomerations with more than 10.000 p.e., i.e. between 2,000 to 10.000 p.e., it should be noted that the total equivalent inhabitants who will benefit from waste water treatment in accordance with the European Directives will be 25,500 litres for SEAU Moinesti Nord, 6.200 l.e. for SEAU Moinesti Sud, 32.500 l.e. for SEAU Buhusi, 12.000 l.e. for SEAU Darmanesti and 16.00 l.e. for SEAU Targu Ocna respectively a total of approximately 0.4 % of the total equivalent inhabitants in Romania (20798547 l.e. at 2014 level – data provided by ANAR) and a total of about 0.8 % of the equivalent population still requiring to be connected to centralised waste water systems in Romania (10630137 l.e. at 2014 level – data calculated on the basis of information provided by ANAR). The population that will benefit from the execution of the 5 waste water treatment plants is 59,394 inhabitants (indicator CO 19) in accordance with the provisions of the Financing Application. The treatment plants in Moinesti will serve Moinesti and Gazarie district (two treatment plants are needed due to the city topography), the Buhusi treatment plant will serve the city of Buhusi, the Darmanesti treatment plant will serve Darmanesti and Darmaneasca and Lapos, the Targu Ocna treatment plant will serve the city of Targu Ocna and Valcele. The population that will benefit from a better water supply according to the indicator CO18 is represented by ~ 217.451 inhabitants representing the population of Bacau, Moinesti, Darmanesti and Targu Ocna, who will receive the water treated in accordance with the European Directives, as well as the additional population of the other localities that will have access to drinking water in accordance with the provisions of the European Directives, respectively 2.7 % of the total inhabitants requiring water supply at the level of Romania (8.018.086 inhabitants – calculated on the basis of the information provided by INS/ANAR) and 1 % of the total inhabitants at the level of Romania – 20.12NS. At the end of phase II, the percentage of the population that will have access to water supply systems will be ~90 % of the population related to the project, namely 242,716 inhabitants, respectively 3 % of the total inhabitants requiring water supply at the level of Romania and 1.2 % of the total inhabitants in Romania.
