The general objective of the Project is to continue to develop the documentation needed to obtain European financing in order to develop the water and wastewater infrastructure in the villages of 2,000 and 10,000 inhabitants, in Alba County, in the period 2014-2020. The aim of the project is to continue the implementation of the county strategy for the development of the water and wastewater sector, in order to fulfil Romania’s obligations under the Treaty of Accession to the European Union, as well as to comply with the specific national and European legislation in the water/waste water sector. The project continues the measures to comply with the water-waste water infrastructure carried out through SOP Environment 2007-2013 and contributes to improving access to water infrastructure – waste water in urban and rural areas until 2018 and developing efficient regional structures for the management of water/waste water services at regional level, in accordance with the position document of Romania, Treaty of Accession, Chapter 22. The concrete contribution of the project consists of elaborating the necessary documentation for accessing European funds in the period 2014-2020, in order to develop water-channeling services at regional level and to ensure efficient project management. The project responds both to the objectives of Priority Axis 1A of SOP Environment – “Support for the development of infrastructure projects in the water/waste water sector related to the next financial programming period”, as well as the specific objective 3.2 of LIOP – which promotes actions that contribute to the fulfilment of the priorities of the Accession Treaty for the water and waste water sector and represents the continuation of the previous strategies financed through ISPA and SOP Environment 2007-2013. From the point of view of the correlation with the LIOP actions, the project corresponds to the action “Support for the preparation of the project portfolio for the period 2014-2020 and post 2020 (as appropriate)” under OS 3.2.
