The 5 metro bus connects V-E between Drumul Taberei district, a dominant residential area and Pantelimon, an area of a pronounced residential character, in which the National Stadium is located. It also creates a direct connection between these two residential areas and the city centre. Currently, the two areas are served only by surface transport. On the 5th metro route in the area between Drumul Taberei and Foişorul de Fire, the public transport service is carried out by buses and trolleybuses, while for the section of the route between the Foişorul de Fire and the Vergului, the public transport offer includes bus and tram transport. All these lines make up the transport offer for servicing the V-E relations between Drumul Taberei and Pantelimon, with connection points in the existing subway transport network at the Heroes, University and Iancului Square stations. As can be seen, the transport offer is composed of low-capacity means of transport and is subject to urban congestion. It is therefore easy to see that the movement on the axis to be served by Magistracy 5 is difficult and involves at least 1 transfer between means of transport. Given the need to increase the coverage of the metro network, it is necessary to continue to extend it to cover the growing demand for transport, in conjunction with the reduction of congestions in key hubs of surface traffic by steering to underground transport of the travelling public in Bucharest and its suburbs. The implementation of this project – Phase “Majoral Metro Line 5 (Taberei Road – Pantelimon), Heroes Section (OP Opera) – Iancului Square – Design and Technical Assistance Services” contributes to: — result indicator 2S81 – Grant application submitted for analysis and approval to the Independent Body for Evaluation, as well as to – the immediate output indicator 2S82 Support documentation for the development of the financing application (Feasibility Study, Institutional Analysis, Cost – Benefit Analysis, Environmental Impact Assessment, etc.). Following the implementation of the project, it will contribute to the objectives of the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme – Priority Axis 1 (PA): Improving mobility through the development of the TEN-T network and metro transport.
