The general aim of the project is to reduce the fragmentation of study programmes at Riga Technical University (RTU) and to strengthen the sharing of resources, whereas its specific objective is to implement the development and validation of 17 new STEM study programmes in the European Union (EU) languages and one joint doctoral study programme agreed with the Ministry of Education and Science and closure of the existing 39 study programmes by 31 March 2023. The project intends to update the range of STEM study programmes offered by RTU, by modernising and making the interdisciplinary STEM study programmes attractive for foreign students. The activities planned within the project will promote the achievement of Latvian higher education policy goals in accordance with the Education Development Guidelines 2014-2020, the Science, Technological Development and Innovation Guidelines 2014-2020 and the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy. The main aim of the project is to provide high-quality, internationally competitive and research-based higher education offered by an effectively managed university.The project includes the following main activities:- Development and licensing of 18 new study programmes implemented in EU languages, including joint doctoral study programme development;- approbation of the developed study programmes;- Accreditation of study programmes corresponding to developed study programmes at EQAR Agency;- international publicity of the study programmes;- project information and publicity activities, as well as project management. Labour market demand will be explored in depth through employer surveys. The formulation of goals, tasks and results of new study programmes, programme implementation description, study course map and other documents for licensing will be carried out. Study courses descriptions of licensed study programmes will be developed. Working group exchange trips are planned. Self-assessment reports and related documents will be prepared, as well as study direction accreditation at the EQAR Agency. The communication and publicity plan will also be implemented within the framework of the project. Project activities are planned to be implemented for 48 months – from 01.05.2019 to 30.04.2023. and its total amount of eligible costs is EUR 1 797 746.74, not exceeding the funding amount for each study programme development EUR 100 000.
