The aim of the project is to improve the quality of the content of study programmes and to ensure better management of RTU and increased competencies and skills of management personnel by using the available resources effectively. The Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy identifies a modern education system that meets the requirements of the future labour market as one of the priorities of the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy, which promotes the transformation of the economy and the development of competences, entrepreneurial capacity and creativity at all levels of education necessary for the implementation of priorities in the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy. RTU, as one of the largest Latvian universities, plays an important role in promoting the development of this priority. .For several years RTU has been implementing changes aimed at ensuring internationally competitive and research-based higher education. RTU vision by 2020 is to become the leading science and innovation university in the Baltic States. In order to implement this goal, RTU strategy and development programme is based on 3 main goals of the university – high-quality study process, excellent research, as well as sustainable innovation and commercialisation activities- and its 6 main priorities of the university – internationalisation, interdisciplinarity, digitalisation, organizational, financial and infrastructure efficiency.In order to implement the project “Development of effective management of Riga Technical University” co-financed by the ESF, the Work Programme was developed under the supervision of RTU Vice-Rector for Development. The work programme has been developed in a strategic partnership with the main stakeholders. The work programme defines the goals, the corresponding tasks and activities, as well as the results to be achieved, in order to improve the quality of studies and to implement effective management, taking into account the recommendations of external evaluations, already started RTU development projects, as well as the goals and tasks set out in the RTU Strategy and Development Programme. An analysis of the information gathered in the reports helped to understand in which areas the university has already implemented good practice and where further measures need to be taken. Being aware that changes are possible to improve the quality and management efficiency of the study process, RTU, taking into account SAM 8.2.3. To ensure better management of higher education institutions within the context of Cabinet Regulations, the project has set development goals, which include: Improvement of the content of existing study programmes, including STEM, and alignment with the development needs of the sector;-improvement of higher education institution organizational and management structures;-quality management system improvement of higher education institution;- development, improvement and implementation of solutions; The project is planned to be implemented for 48 months from November 1, 2018 until 31 October 2022, and its total eligible costs are EUR 3 283 436.27 (including ESF funding – EUR 2 790 920.83 and state budget funding – EUR 492 515.44).
