The aim of the Cluster project is to promote sustainable co-operation between Latvian health tourism companies, education and knowledge distribution organisations, thus increasing their competitiveness in health care and health tourism, and promoting the increase in total expenses of foreign travellers in Latvia and the development of high added value products. The Latvian health tourism industry is a growing sector with great export abilities. The activities of the Latvian Health Cluster will promote the competitiveness of health care and health tourism, the emergence of new high added value complex health tourism services and their export. The development of Cluster established in 2012 will allow to overcome the current limitations of the sector’s growth by promoting cooperation between businesses representing the health and tourism industry and educational institutions, thus addressing the low human capacity problem. Cooperation between the cluster’s cooperation partners will be promoted in order to create an integrated and comprehensive offer of health tourism services for foreign tourists, as well as to create new services using the natural capital of Latvia. Cooperation with foreign companies in tourism and health sectors will be encouraged to successfully develop marketing activities in foreign markets. This will address the problem of a common and coordinated lack of marketing activities in export markets. The total costs of the project are EUR 554453,47, of which 85 % of the European Regional Development Fund funding is foreseen in the amount of EUR 471285,45 and EUR 83168,02, which will be covered by membership fees and participation payments paid by the cluster participants.
