Control of root troupe using mushroom isolates of Latvian origin

The aim of the project is to contribute to the goals of the Biodiversity Convention and the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3) by assessing the effectiveness of mushroom blends (Phlebiopsis gigantea, Bjerkandera adusta and Sistotrema brinkmannii) against infection of the roots of Heterobasidion in tree strains. The project will lead to the development of an alternative to an existing, widely used product. The new preparation could ensure successful forestry practices, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring better adaptability of forest stands to climate change. The project sets specific objectives: 1. to compare the efficacy of Phlebiopsis gigantea strains of isolates from conventional pine and spruce; 2) assess the impact of the Bjerkander edusta and Sistotrema brinkmannii on the effectiveness of P. gigantea biocontrol for Heterobasidion spp. ; 3) develop technology for cultivation of mushroom species in sawdust and other substrates and develop a methodology for treating strains;4) broaden the awareness and knowledge of the target group. The project complies with the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS) priority area “Knowledge-intensive bioeconomy” and research promotes scientific and human capital development and creation of new knowledge, and it will be carried out in the field of research (NACE classification NACE code 72.19) and forestry (02.10, 02.20, 02.40). The total maturity level of the project results shall correspond to TRL4 – components validated in a laboratory environment. The antagonism of mushrooms against Heterobasidion will be investigated both in laboratory and in field conditions – in blocks and freshly sawn strains. The results of the project will provide new knowledge on the preparation of the analysed mushroom spor/mycelium suspensions, as well as mixtures of suspensions (in combination with P.gigantea) and the use of saprophytic mushrooms for the protection of newly sawn strains against root troupe. The work tasks put forward in the project:1) to analyse the soil of the seeds, S. adusta, S. brinkmannii, P. gigantea strains derived from pine and spruce – to produce the mycelium properties and growth rates of the conifer in coniferous wood.2) to analyse the effects of the B. adu, S. adu, S. brinkmanni for the long-term effects of the project, the germ of the skies and the interaction of P. gigantea in the sketch.3. to analyse the effects of B. bntmanni on the germin, P. gigante against the pice. and the efficacy of the shoe in the skies. for the interaction of the mixture in the germ.3. to analyse the effects of the B. bntmann, S. brinkii on the growth rate of the P. Pice. and the pice in the brink., on the coat of the sketches. on the germinating the skies. for the germinating the skies. for the germinating the skies, S. brinkmanni, and the results of the skies of the skies derived from pine and sprouts – to produce the myce properties and growth rates of conifers in conifer trees in wood; 2) to analyse the effects of B. adusta, S. adusta, S. brinkmanni for the long term, the germ of the skies and the interaction of the mixture in the germ, and in the germ, the germin. in the nut, S. brinkmanni in the germ, the germ to the germ to the germ, the germ to the germ, and to the effects of the skies in the skies.
