Provision of services of Autonomous Living and Safe Ageing of the Elderly in the Region of Peloponnese

The operation will be implemented by the Directorate-General for Public Health and Social Welfare of the MAP and includes the following actions:1. Operation of a 24-hour monitoring and telephone support centre for beneficiaries: The Region of Peloponnese incorporates in its planning the operation of a 24-hour telephone support centre, obtaining in the form of a service for twenty-six months the necessary infrastructure, and human resources to provide the 24-hour telephone support service to 3000 beneficiaries. The Call Management Centre has appropriately trained personnel, which has direct access to the archive of each elderly and consists of social workers, psychologists and responds directly to any need or desire of the elderly. Even if the elderly is unable to respond, the service immediately sends assistance, a neighbor, family member, ambulance, Direct Action, Fire Department.2. Continuous home viewing and paging service through special devices: For the 24-hour monitoring of the elderly, MAP will make use for thirty months of specialised subscription monitoring and paging service via social care devices which communicate with the 24-hour call management center. The appliances will be awarded by the Region on the basis of fair social, medical and economic criteria to the recipient elderly. Monitoring shall relate to the following incidents: Fall, sickness or panic, removal of the elderly. The service includes:-house surveillance with panic button. The beneficiary has the ability to call to help with the press of a button when he needs immediate help (panic button). A total of 1,800 beneficiaries.-house surveillance with drop detection and panic button. The device provided has an additional mechanism for detecting the movement or immobility of its vehicle. A total of 900 beneficiaries.- Monitoring and location outside the house. Using the device it is possible to view the beneficiary on a geographical map over the Internet and send an alert in case of removal from specified limits. This device is useful in patients with dementia, who are often removed due to loss of memory from their home and cannot be found. A total of 300 beneficiaries.
