The project concerns the integrated wastewater management system in the geographical area of the Municipality of Marathon and will provide a definitive solution to the area’s drainage problem for decades. The Marathon Water Treatment Center (KEL) with a capacity of 51,400 inhabitants in its initial phase (provision 2030) and up to 110.000 in the final phase (2060) will serve the settlements of Agios Panteleimonas, Marathonas, Zuberi (settle section), Nea Makri, Agia Marina (settle section), Neos Vooutzas (part of the settlement). It will operate with technology allowing the use of processed effluent for unlimited irrigation. The operation of the project will contribute decisively to the environmental upgrading of the area and its further tourist development.
