The general objective of the project is “Increase the quality of infrastructure to ensure increased access to early education and support parents’ participation in the labour market”, falling under the Investment Priority 4.4 objective. “Investment in education and training, including vocational training, for skills acquisition and lifelong learning through the development of education and training infrastructures”. Education is a key factor in society’s development and it starts at very young ages (under 5 years). The pre-school education cannot take place without a special infrastructure, adequately equipped, whereby the services provided by the authorities can meet the current requirements. Socio-economic analyses highlight the causal relationship between the level of capacity development of the labour force and the state of the infrastructure (the existence of adequate spaces and facilities) in which the educational process takes place. Educational infrastructure is essential for education, early childhood development, social skills building and social integration capacity. Local authorities at the level of ATU Brasov Municipality realised the importance and necessity of such an investment and included the construction of nurseries and kindergartens among the priorities of the Integrated Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Metropolitan Area Brasov. Achieving the two investment objectives will contribute to strengthening the role of Brasov as a growth engine, by addressing the current shortcomings in the education system and improving the availability, quality and relevance of the educational infrastructure and its endowment. The expected results aim at ensuring access to early education for better educational outcomes, while promoting parents’ participation and reintegration into the labour market.
