Extension Information Management System of the Public Transport System

The general objective of the project is to increase the attractiveness of public transport by improving passenger information services and extending the automatic charging system at the level of Brasov Municipality, with a direct effect on the reduction of polluting emissions caused by private means of transport (cars). Increasing the attractiveness of the public transport system is intended to discourage the use of private cars for urban journeys and to reduce congestion and chemical and noise pollution caused by private transport. Thus, the project is expected to lead to a decrease in CO2 emissions and other emissions such as NOx, PM10, etc., compared to the non-intervention scenario. Achieving the objective involves the extension of the computerised management system of the existing public transport system, both from a territorial point of view (addition to the computerised system of new sales points, new information panels, extension of the fleet of public transport vehicles in which the automatic toll system is available) and functional (extension with video surveillance functions in all means of public transport, implementation of solutions for counting passengers in some vehicles, functional extension with online purchase/purchase facilities of transport titles, mobile application for passenger information, etc.). Together with the two projects already completed in the previous funding period: “Computerised management of the public transport system” and “Fitting-out of end-of-line stations for public transport means”, the project proposal “Enlargement of the computerised management system of the public transport system” refers to the main components of the public passenger transport system, i.e. public transport infrastructure components, traffic management system components and means of transport related to public passenger transport systems, thus contributing to the achievement of an integrated intervention that is underpinned by the objective set for Axis 4 of ROP 2014-2020 and for investment priority 4.1. The project is part of a complex approach aimed at increasing the quality of the public transport system and encouraging the inhabitants of Brasov Municipality to use public transport to the detriment of private transport by private vehicles. In this integrated approach, the following priority projects are included in the ROP, Axis 4.1: • Procurement of modern means of transport • Facilities dedicated to public transport in Brasov and adjacent sidewalks • Garage infrastructure for public transport • Arrangement of passenger stations • Urban transport terminal Brasov Railway Station • Centralised traffic monitoring and control system in Brasov Municipality The project contributes to achieving both SUMP objectives and
