Development of public transport infrastructure in Satu Mare

The general objective of the project is to create investments based on urban mobility plans aimed at increasing the attractiveness and competitiveness of public transport, while contributing to the reduction of air and noise pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption in the municipality of Satu Mare; The purpose of these investments is to invest in new/modern technologies, in order to renew the car fleet by purchasing clean buses necessary for the operation of all public transport lines in Satu Mare municipality, starting from the premise that a modern public transport system, managed efficiently and whose costs of use are accessible, is key to attracting as many users as possible – elements that encourage the abandonment of the personal vehicle, implicitly reducing CO2 emissions and noise pollution in the urban area. The activities to be carried out under the project fall under the category of activities in intervention area A “Investments aimed at improving urban public passenger transport”, B. Investments for electric and non-motorised transport, and, C. Other investments aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in the urban area, with the following sub-activities: Depots/cars for public transport built/upgraded/rehabilitated/extended (No.), as appropriate; Public transport stations built/upgraded/rehabilitated (No.), as appropriate; E-ticheting systems created/upgraded/extended (No.), as appropriate; Bike-sharing/bike-rental schemes, created/upgraded/extended (No.), as appropriate; Traffic management systems as well as other intelligent transport systems created/upgraded/extended (No.) as appropriate; Through these sub-activities, the project contributes to the achievement of the proposed objective, by modernising and developing the public transport service in Satu Mare municipality as a result of identifying the main mobility problems and meeting the needs of the population, with a direct effect on reducing noise pollution, the public transport service will become much more efficient and attractive contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the population and to the improvement of the quality of the environment. Thus, the activities proposed by the project "Development of public transport infrastructure in Satu Mare municipality, fall within the eligible activities supported by Priority Axis 4: Supporting Sustainable Urban Development, Investment Priority 4e: Promoting low-carbon strategies for all types of territories, in particular for urban areas, including the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and mitigation-relevant adaptation measures, Specific Objective 4.1: Reducing carbon emissions in municipalities of county residence through investments based on urban mobility plans
