The general objective of the project is to increase the accessibility of a total community of 35,460 people from Dolj county to the TEN-T network, a community located both in the rural area consisting of 5 communes crossed by the county road DJ 561 A – section 1, as well as in Bailesti. In this way, the modernisation of the county road DJ 561 A Giurgita (DJ561) – Urzica Mare – Urzicuta – Afumati-Boureni – Bailesti – Balasan – Motatei Gara – Motatei (intersection with DN 56), Km 0+ 000-41+ 474 stimulates mobility in the South-West Oltenia Region by increasing the accessibility of rural areas in Giurgita communes, smoked, Motatei, Urzicuta totalling 15,680 inhabitants, as well as Bailesti, with 19,780 inhabitants, on the TEN-T road network, as well as on road and rail/seaport. In detail, the connection to the road TEN-T is ensured by direct connection with DN 56/E 79 Craiova – Calafat (through the crossroads of Motatei commune) and DN 56 A. The county road DJ 561 A, section 1 is proposed for modernisation up to the limit of the area on which the intersection with Craiova Calafat DN 56 is planned through the project “Rehabilitation DN 56 Craiova – Calafat, km 0+ 000 – km 84+ 020” in implementation by CNAIR, in accordance with CNAIR’s main opinion No 347/13.12.2017, attached. According to CNAIR letter No 32078/13.12.2017, the deadline for completing the construction works of the intersection is September-October 2018. The connection to the TEN-T road and rail network is provided by direct connection, respectively via DN 56/E 79 to Calafat Railway Station/Pod Calafat (the TEN-F core network: Craiova-Calafat-Vidin-Sofia). The road goes through Motati Station. The connection to the TEN-T road and naval/port network is ensured through DN 56/E 79 – Port Calafat/Pod Calafat, the Danube River (TEN-T network central river: River Danube and Port Calafat). The distance from the intersection point between DJ 561 A and DN 56 to the port city at the Calafat Danube is about 22 km. Also, the County Road DJ 561 A – section 1 connects through the DJ 561 County Road Craiova-Segarcea-Carna (Dunareni) rehabilitated by Phare 2006 and ROP 2007-2013 programmes, with Craiova (intermodal TEN-T road/rail/airway node). In conclusion: • The population served by the county road DJ 561 A – section 1 is more than 15,000 people, according to the latest INS data (annexed) and 35,460 persons respectively; • The length of road DJ 561 A section 1 upgraded is more than 20 km and 39.367 km respectively; •The county road DJ 561 A section 1 provides connectivity to 3 TEN-T corridors: road (DN 56 – direct and DN 56 A), road and ship/port (DN 56-DN 56A-Port Calafat); road and rail (DN 56-DN 56 A – Calafat Railway Station); • The connectivity of DJ 561 A section 1 to TEN-T is direct on the territory of Motatei commune (intersection with DN 56) and further on the territory of Calafat municipality with DN 56 A, and indirectly via DJ 561 to
